Running PiggyBob™

PiggyBob™ will run when Windows starts up. It can be run in the background by clicking on the caption bar close button.

Right click on the PiggyBob™ icon in the taskbar to either Restore or Close down PiggyBob™ completely. It can also be closed from within PiggyBob™ by selecting Exit from the main menu.

(NOTE Any event alarms will only be activated when PiggyBob™ is running.)

The main screen will default to the calendar, to view Statistics (a list income and expense items) or Graph (a bar graph showing breakdown of these items) use the buttons on the main toolbar.

Calendar

The calendar screen will display as soon as PiggyBob™ starts up. To go back to the calendar any time, click on the calendar button on the main tool bar

To select a date, click on the top of the day box - a blue caption bar will indicate the selected date. Use the black arrow keys on the month caption bar to change month and year. Click on the Today button to go to the current date or select a date in the GoTo box.

Right click on the Calendar for the popup events menu.

Statistics

To select, click on the Statistics button on the main tool bar. A list of all income and expense items will be displayed.

These can be filtered using the check boxes on the local toolbar.

Annual – Show details of current year

Show Income – Check to include income items

Show Expense – Check to include expense items

First Date - Select first date of that items have been entered

Last Date - Select last date of that items have been entered

Expense - Show expense pie chart

Income - Show income pie chart

Right click on the Statistics screen for the popup menu

Graph

To select click, on the Graph button on the main tool bar. A bar graph showing an annual breakdown of monthly income and expense will be displayed.

The local toolbar allows you to filter which items are to be included.

Annual - Show details of current year

First Date - Select first date of that items have been entered

Last Date - Select last date of that items have been entered

Annual - Show details of current year

Expense - Show expense pie chart

Income - Show income pie chart

Events

Events will automatically be displayed in the relevant day box on the calendar.

Any number of events can be entered for any given day. Once entered, to select an event click on the event bar – a pale blue bar indicates the event has been selected. If there are more than two events in a single day, up and down arrow will display on the right hand side of the calendar to allow you to view events not displayed.

Add an event

Click on the Add Events button on the main toolbar or select Add from event popup menu. An edit wondow will appear. The date will default to the calendar date and time to 09:00. A 24 hour clock is used.

Change the date and time as necessary and enter a description of the event. An event may be repeated daily, weekly or monthly. If it is repeated then you may repeat for any number of days, weeks or months or until a chosen date. Repeated events will have a preceeding '*'.

Check Activate Alarm to set an alarm for this event and this will be set for any repeated event. If you do not want the default audible alert, click on the sound icon to select which file will play when the alarm is activated. Different sounds may be selected for different events.

The events will appear in a bar on the calendar and where the alarm has been set an icon will show to indicate the alarm has been set.

Edit an event

Select the event, right click and then select Edit to make any changes. Changes to a repeating event will be applied to all in the series.

Delete an event

To delete an event select the event, right click and then select Delete from the popup menu.

If the event is repeated or is one of a series of repeated event, all events will be deleted.

Alarm

When an alarm has been set as active, PiggyBob™ will monitor the event time and an alert window and sound will notify you of the event.

Once this alert window is closed, the alarm will be deactivated. The alarm will not be active if PiggyBob™ is not running.

Income and Expense

Income and expense items are entered and edited in exactly the same way.

Add an income or expense item

Click on the Add Expense button or Add Income on the main tool bar or right click on the statistics screen for the income / expense popup menu.

Select a date and then enter the amount and description of the item. Select a category – or if none have been entered click on the add category icon and enter a category name.

Use the edit and delete icons to change these categories. Any category that has been used in an item already cannot be deleted but can be amended. Click OK for audible confirmation that the record has been saved.

Click on the Statistics button on the main toolbar to view all expense and income records.

Edit an income or expense item

Click on the item in the list and right click for the popup menu, select Edit and make the necessary changes.

Delete an income or expense item

Click on the expense item in the list and right click for the popup menu, select Delete and confirm that you wish to delete the item.
