The study also revealed that the Americans spending have increased to twenty five percent annually between 1996 and 1999.

This is true for the seniors too. It shows that more than fifty percent of the senior citizens aren’t covered by any insurance inclusive of medicine benefits specifically for prescription drugs. b)Make Comparisons - Pharmacies charges differen depending on how much margin they would like to give away to the customer. A comparison helps to understand the prevalent prices. when you do this exercise for a few drugs, you will get to know which pharmacies charge higher. These are the ones to be avoided if you want to save money.

c)Look for Discounts - Members of AARP can receive discounts especially from mail-order pharmacy discounts. Check the Veterans Administration to check if you are eligible for some veterans’ benefits.

d)Increase the life span of drugs by keeping them away from sunlight. Make sure to store your medicines and pills away from moisture and heat to ensure the optimal potency of these drugs. Most drugs, when exposed to sunlight, tend to lose their potency. There would be no effect from administering th edrug in such cases. You have paid dear money to buy it in the first place, then these are small precautions you can take to preserve them longer.

e)Talk to your Doctor - Simply ask your doctor to prescribe a low cost alternative. Te formuula is what matters not the brand. However, be sure that the brand manufacturer has enough experience. Check how long they have been in the drug manufacturing business. Doctors should be able to suggest you with alternatives, once they know what you are looking for.

f)Ask for the samples.  A lot of pharmaceutical companies supply their pharmacies with more than enough of sample medicines. They are very eager to let people try their products. If you are the experimental risk takers, you can very well gain from this exercise. Although this is not a suggested route, fact remains that the formula of the drug is what matters. i)Know what your medical insurance covers.  Understand your insurance its coverage before signing up with the plan and check the documents after you sign as well . Be specific of the maximum amount of your co-payments will pay for the whole year. More often than not, a health plan only approves for certain pre-approved drugs. Make a list of these and carry them handy while visiting th edoctor. He could take guidance from the list an dprescribe a drug that you can reimburse. If you pay for a particular type of insurance, its better you uact accordingly.
